BMW X5 aftermarket parts are no stranger to BMWs eldest sports utility vehicle. Owners of the longest running BMW SUV are more interested in aftermarket parts than your everyday BMW enthusiast would think.
Perhaps
the most popular generation of X5 in terms of aftermarket parts would have to
be the E70. From downpipes for the N63-powered X5 to an array of software tunes
for other X5 engine designations – these are performance upgrades that can
provide results. Here is more on these performance improving X5 parts.
N63 4.4L TT Downpipes
Almost
as impressive as the X5M, the twin-turbo 4.4L V8 (N63) X5 is quite remarkable
before aftermarket parts are even added. There are not many sport utility
vehicles that come from the factory producing 400 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of
torque.
With
the addition of a set of N63 downpipes, the E70 X5 comes alive and is even more
of a monster. Thanks to the larger aftermarket downpipes, majority of the
exhaust pressure is eliminated. This allows the turbos to spool faster with
less effort resulting in quicker engine revs and an increase in horsepower.
N63 4.4L TT Software
Capable
of producing more than 450 rear-wheel horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque when
paired with a set of N63 downpipes, E70 X5 software can turn a three-ton SUV
into a speed demon. Literally, with the addition of a N63 tune a X5 can run the
¼ mile faster than many compact sports vehicles and even some ///M models.
Additional X5 Software
There
are tunes available for other E70 X5 engine codes as well. From the 3.0L N52
and N55 to the 4.8L N62; any of the available tunes are worth looking into.
Improvements to the various X5 tunes come in the form of an additional 15
horsepower, smoother and more responsive throttle transition as well as
modified VANOS camshaft remapping. Essentially, a X5 tune takes the soccer mom
SUV and turns into the ultimate family machine.
BMW X5 aftermarket parts are not hard to come by. As
surprising as it may be to some people X5 performance parts are actually
somewhat popular.
